Physiognomy is an effort to understand the mind and personality by evaluating various physical and facial traits.
Face reading was used with Astrology in the Middle Ages as a method of predicting/divination.
In Europe during the 18th and 19th century it was used in criminology; to identify potential criminals. In the 20th century it became a hocus pocus type of divination, more like an old wives tale.
In China it was during the Warring States period (481-221BC). It was very popular during the time of the Ottomans. In the Enderun Mektebi, or Palace School, it was taught as İlmi Sima, or the art of face reading.
Look at a picture of your face, by covering one side at a time; you will see the differences in each side. Faces and character were looked at to discover past lives and observe facial features that may have changed.
